Help me style my engagement shoot

So I have my engagement shoot with Photography by Nadean next week and I am busy collecting cute rustic picnic props for it. Since my beautiful husband to be is Italian, I was trying to add subtle Italian flavour to the shoot too without introducing gingham table cloths and candles half melted into bottles.

Here is a list of things that I have come up with so far. Would love your thoughts and any suggestions to add to my collection of engagement props.

I have a cute blackboard tray that I am going to write 'la vita e bella' on which means 'life is beautiful'

That's all I have so far. I would have loved to add a vintage bike leaning against a tree or even a scooter but I dont know anyone I can borrow one from. Also NSW scooter laws mean you need a motor bike licence to ride one, so hiring is out too.

Can you think of any other ideas for me?

In the mean time, I am going to work on finding the perfect 1950's style dress to wear. Mod Cloth doesn't deliver to Australia express, so I am off to the shops on my lunch break.

For the little rockstar in the family

Has you son got the muso gene?
Is he already practicing his air guitar and head banging skills?

This just might be the only quiet musical gift you can give a budding little rockstar which he can both play with and sleep with that wont give you a headache.

Designed by the Danish brand Ferm Living and made from 100% Organic Cotton, the guitar cushion is the great accompaniment to any boys bedroom.

Sydney Design Markets for Christmas

Every year I am always trying to find gifts for my friends and family which are different, original and not seen all over town. This year I have found my new shopping destination with design markets. The idea of design markets has been around a while but over the past few years the Australian public have caught on and are loving the new products that are not only Australian made but also Australian designed. Check the three below that I have put into my calendar for this years Christmas shopping.

Young Blood: Design Markets @ The Powerhouse Museum

Friday 9 - Sunday 11 November, 10am - 5pm
$6 entry includes Museum admission (save 50%)

One of Sydney's only curated markets, Young Blood showcases innovative designs from talented and creative young minds right across the country.

These markets feature a range of stalls including fashion, jewellery, object design, homewares, textiles, graphic works and more.

Once you are shopped out and have all your stocking fillers bought, drop into the markets Make Lounge and try your hand at designing your own tea towel. Enjoy the live entertainment from Sketch the Rhyme, a multi-media/visual arts show with a unique take on a traditional gameshow combined with live drawing, freestyle rap and sounds of a funk band.

The Designer Markets @ The Entertainment Quarter

Sunday 25 November & Sunday 9 December, 10am - 3pm

Most products here are exclusive to The Designer Markets as their designers often prefer small production runs of particular designs, making these events not only a fabulous opportunity to see some emerging talent, but also a chance to purchase items that cant be bought from mainstream shops.

With over 80 market stalls, the Designer Markets will feature a huge range of homewares, fashion and accessories for men, women and children.

Not only is this market debuting this Christmas to the Entertainment Quarter but the Quarter will also become its fortnightly home in 2013. In addition this November/December the markets will feature pop up retail events at local shopping centres like Warringah Mall, Castle Towers and Stockland Wetherill Park.

The Finders Keepers @ CarriageWorks

Saturday 8 December, 6pm - 10pm
Sunday 9th December, 10am - 5pm

The Finders Keepers Markets are a bi-annual FREE event that showcases the work of over 65 emerging designers and artists from both local designer to areas all around Australia.

With the Melbourne and Brisbane Spring/Summer 2012 events already complete, the last on the calendar before Christmas is Sydney. These markets truly are the last step for these designers before they reach mainstream production. So the talent is exceptional, the products are both quality and original work and its one of the few times you actually can meet the designer behind the products.
